Damage

Wayne Public Schools experienced minimal damages to our campus. There is no structural damage and no damage to roofs. “We are thankful there was no loss of life and what was damaged can be replaced,” said Toby Ringwald, superintendent of Wayne Public Schools.

Six windows are out on the far south side of our campus. There is trash on the playground and limbs throughout the grounds. The most significant damage is to trees and the loss of power. There is a tree laying on the power line as well.

School Closing and Activities

WPS is closed today for inspections to campus and because there is no power. “We are hopeful it will be restored soon, as there are crews dispersed across our community,” said Ringwald. It the WPS intention to provide notice to our parents as early as possible today about whether school will be open tomorrow to allow parents enough time to make alternative plans for childcare, should they need. The elementary Christmas program for tonight is also cancelled. Other events scheduled for the remainder of the week will be determined as we progress throughout the week.
